Oral Interpreting

ORAL INTERPRETING PRICE LIST

Our most requested languages are listed below; interpreters for other languages are available upon request. In-state interpreters are subject to a two-hour minimum per day unless additional hours are requested and reserved. Out-of-state interpreters are subject to an eight-hour minimum per day. Please submit all interpretation requests in advance of assignment start date. University Translators Services will provide a certified and/or Grade AA interpreter for your assignment. If the requested language is not one which the State of Michigan certifies, we will provide you with a Grade AA interpreter. Grade AA signifies an interpreter with at least 10 years of experience who can provide interpreting in both the consecutive and simultaneous modes.

What is consecutive interpreting?
In consecutive interpreting, the interpreter waits until the speaker has finished before rendering speech into another language.
Consecutive interpreting is a true and accurate interpretation of one language to another, spoken in brief sound bites successively,
without omissions or embellishments, so that the parties can understand each other slowly and deliberately.

What is simultaneous interpreting?
Simultaneous interpreting is the rendering of one spoken language into another when running renditions are needed at the same time as the English language communication.
The interpreter speaks virtually at the same time as the LEP (Limited English Proficient) person.
When done properly, it is a true and accurate interpretation of one language to another,
done without omissions or embellishments, so that the parties can understand one another quickly.
